Warnings
Fencing blades and weapons (foil, épée, sabre) may only be used for practicing the sport of fencing according to the rules of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) or the respective national fencing federation.

Use by minors: The use of blades by minors must be strictly supervised by a fencing master (coach).

Foil and épée blades may only be used with a fixed tip (electrical tip for electric blades or plastic tip for manual blades).

Before each use, the blade must be checked for damage, cracks, or deformation. Damaged blades that show cracks or significant nicks must not be used further.

Blade bending: If the blade bends more than 30°, it must not be used anymore due to the risk of breakage.

Bent blades: A bent blade must not be straightened, as it may have cracks and could break during a bout.

Broken blades pose a particular threat. The circumstances of a blade break can lead to high speeds of the tip and high-energy impacts. It is known that broken blades can penetrate protective clothing with potentially fatal consequences. Therefore, fencing weapons may only be used in conjunction with complete protective gear (according to DIN/EN 13567 in the latest version) to minimize the risk of injury.

Do not touch blades with bare hands to avoid injuries from sharp edges, nicks, or splinters.

Fencing blades and weapons (foil, épée, sabre) must not be altered or manipulated by the user. Repairs or replacement of parts may only be carried out by qualified personnel.

Fencing blades may only be used as completely and properly assembled fencing weapons (foil, épée, sabre) with compliant grips, guards, and tips to ensure safe handling.

Fencing weapons and blades should be transported in a suitable fencing weapon bag and stored in a safe, dry place to prevent damage or accidents.
Caring and storing instructions

After each training session or competition, the blade should be wiped down with a clean, soft and dry cloth in order to remove sweat, moisture and dirt.

Aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents must not be used, as they may damage the surface of the blade as well as the electrical components.

The electrical tip should be cleaned regularly, as dust, metal particles, or oxidation can accumulate in this area.

All plug connections and contact surface at the grip and the guard should be kept clean and dry to ensure reliable signal transmission.

The blade should be inspected regularly for visible damge such as notches, cracks, or excessive and uneben bending. A damaged blade must not be used any further for safety reasons.

The electrical wire inside the blade as well as all connections should be checked at regular intervals in order to detect cable breaks, oxidation, or loose contacts at an early stage. Before each use, the proper electrical function of the foil should also be tested.

The electrical foil should always be stored in a dry and protected environment.

The foil must not be stored together with wet fencing clothing or damp gloves.

During transport, care must be taken to ensure that the blade is not excessively bent or subjected to pressure from other pieces of equipment.
