Range of application
This garment is designed for use in the sport of fencing according to the rules of the international
fencing federation (F.I.E.)
To choose the correct level of performance for protective clothing for fencers please refer to the
rules of your national fencing federation. We strictly recommend to only use fencing clothing of the
highest level of performance (EN 13567 + A1:2007 Level 2>800N), in any case an additional
underplastron has to be used with the fencing jacket. A sabre jacket (without the triangular
protection of the abdomen) must be worn together with fencing breeches of at least the same
performance level.
To find out the correct size of your fencing jacket please refer to the table on our website. Protective
clothing for fencing should be chosen big enough to ensure room to move. However it should be
tight enough to avoid that the fabric falls in folds which might catch the opponent’s blade.
The zones of protection of this protective garment (shown in grey color) can be seen from the
following figure:
The following parts of the garment are
not part of the protective zones:
- the elastics at the end of the sleeves
- the tightening strap that is placed between the legs
- all other fastening devices like straps, hook and loop fasteners, zippers etc.
When fastening your fencing jacket, make sure, that all fastening devices (straps, hook and loop
fasteners, zippers, buttons etc.) are closed completely and firmly. The garment may not be used any
longer, if any of the fastening devices doesn’t work properly.
Warnings
This garment may only be used by qualified trainers for fencing lessons in controlled training situations.
Coaching equipment for fencing is not protective equipment under DIN/EN 13567. It is strongly recommended to use this equipment only in combination with full protective equipment (according to the latest version of DIN/EN 13567) to minimize the risk of injury. The protective effect of this coaching equipment is limited to reducing superficial injuries such as abrasions and bruises, as well as cushioning impact forces from thrusts and cuts by fencing blades.
Broken blades pose a particular threat. The circumstances of a blade breakage can lead to high-speed tip movement and high-energy impacts. It is known that broken blades can penetrate protective equipment with potentially fatal consequences. This coaching equipment for fencing does not offer protection against this specific hazard.
The coaching equipment should be regularly inspected for mechanical damage (abrasions, tears, holes, open seams). Damaged equipment must not be used further.
Be sure to follow the cleaning and care instructions on the label.
Always store the equipment in a dry place away from direct sunlight to ensure the longevity of the materials.
Always keep your coaching equipment away from heat sources and open flames.
Some people are allergic to leather. Check before purchasing if you are sensitive to leather products.
Caring and storing instructions
This garment can be washed at 30°C in a mild detergent. Don’t spin-dry or tumble this garment, as
the mechanical impacts might reduce its level of protection. All closures have to be closed during
washing
To be stored in its original packing in a cool and dry place without direct light exposure.
The garment doesn't contain any substances at levels known or suspected to affect the health or
hygiene of the user in the foreseeable conditions of normal use.
