Upgrade of a fencing mask to Vario mask is carried out by profssionally sewing a hook-and loop tape onto the mask bib, wo which a conductive metallic fabric can be attached or removed depending on the discipline. This modification may only be performed by our qualified specialist personnel at our facility.
Any independent modification, retrofitting, or alteration of the mask bib by the user or by unauthorized third parties is prohibited. Unauthorized changes may impair the protective function of the mask and will result in the loss of product safety as well as any warranty or guarantee claims.
Improper installation of the loop tape or the conductive metallic fabric can significantly reduce the protective effect in the neck and throat area. This result in an increased risk of injury during training and competition.
The fencing mask must not be used if the mask bib, the sewn-on loop tape, or the seams are damaged, loose, or heavily worn. The same applies if the conductive metallic fabric is not correctly attached or could come loose during use.
Regularly inspect the mask bib, the loop tape, and ll seams for secure attachement, tears, fraying, detachment, or material fatique. Before each use, check that the conductive metallic fabric is correctly attached and securely fastened for foil fencing. For épée fencing, the metallic fabric must be completely removed.
Do not use the mask if there is any uncertainty regarding the proper condition of the Vario upgrade. In such cases, remove the mask from service immediately and send it to us for inspection.
The mask may only be used again once the Vario upgrade has been carried out or inspected by our specialist personnel and technical safety has been confirmed.
Only a professional upgrade performed at our facility ensures the intended function, fit, and protective performance of the Vario mask. Improper repairs or modifications may lead to malfunctions and cause injuries.
The mask bib upgraded to Vario with sewn-on loop tape, as well as the conductive metallic fabric used, should be thoroughly aired after each use and dried in a dry place to reduce moisture and odor formation.
The mask bib with Vario upgrade may be carefully cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Use only mild, pH-neutral cleaning agents. Take care not to excessively soak the sewn loop areas and seams.
If necessary, the conductive metallic fabric should be removed and cleaned separately in a gentle manner according to its material properties, and fully dried before being reattached.
Aggressive, abrasove, or alcohol-based cleaning agents as well as solvents must not be used, as they may damage the material, the conductive surface, the loop tape, or the seams of the Vario upgrade.
Before storage, ensure that the mask bib, loop tape, and, where applicable, the metallic fabric are completely dry. Residual moisture may lead to material damage and hygiene issues.
Regularly check the Vario upgrade for cleanliness, secure attachement of the loop tape, intact seams, and for wear or detachment. Also inspect the condition of the conductive metallic fabric and its fastening areas.
Store the upgraded mask in a dry, well-ventilated place, preferably in a breathable and shape-stable protective bag. Avoid pressure on the mask bib and the Vario areas.
Protect the mask from direct sunlight, high temperatures, frost, and high humidity, as these influences may prematurely age or damage the materials of the Vario upgrade, the conductive surface, and the textile components.
Heavily damaged, detached, or no longer hygienically acceptable components of the Vario upgrade must not be reused and must be replaced. Replacement may only be carried out by our specialist personnel.
Textile components, loop material, and padding elements generally count as textile or plastic waste and must be disposed of in accordance with local disposal regulations. Conductive metallic fabrics must be disposed of in accordance with local requirements for composite or metal materials.
If you are unsure about the correct disposal of indiviudal components, please contact your local waste management provider or contact us.
